About Dimitri

My name is Dimitri Joy. I am a creator, entrepreneur, and online business owner building Joyfully, a mindful lifestyle brand dedicated to helping people cultivate greater awareness, presence, and joy in everyday life. I am also developing Stay Joyfully, a hospitality-focused extension of the brand that provides peaceful accommodations and mindful getaway experiences designed to offer rest, reflection, and renewal.

In addition to my commercial work, I founded The Awakened Life Center, a mission-driven organization focused on education and community around spiritual awakening, non-duality, and mindful living, while supporting a more compassionate world through the advancement of human rights, animal welfare, and environmental stewardship.

I was born in Maryland into a Greek Orthodox family and attended a Protestant Christian school throughout my formative years. Growing up within multiple Christian traditions gave me an early appreciation for faith, contemplation, and the search for deeper meaning.

At nineteen, while attending college, I experienced a profound spiritual awakening that reshaped the course of my life. This experience inspired a lifelong exploration of spirituality, philosophy, religion, and human flourishing, leading me to study a wide range of wisdom traditions and contemplative practices.

I later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science, where my academic interests centered on the relationship between individuals, institutions, culture, and social change. These studies further deepened my curiosity about the ways consciousness, society, and human systems influence one another.

At twenty-four, I attended my first Buddhist retreat and was deeply moved by the experience. What began as curiosity soon developed into a dedicated spiritual practice. Since then, I have spent more than 170 days on Buddhist retreat, practicing primarily within the Thiền Buddhist tradition, while continuing to honor my Christian roots and draw inspiration from diverse spiritual perspectives.

Beyond formal practice, I find meaning in travel, nature, staying active, minimalism, and mindful living. I am especially passionate about fostering greater compassion toward all beings and supporting efforts that advance human rights, animal welfare, and environmental sustainability.

Alongside my spiritual interests, I have long been fascinated by digital identity, branding, and the role names play in shaping ideas and organizations. This passion eventually led me into the world of digital real estate and the creation of Joyously, a company focused on meaningful and memorable domain names.

Across my work, studies, and personal life, I am guided by a commitment to awareness, compassion, and lifelong learning. My aspiration is to create projects, communities, and experiences that help people live with greater purpose, connection, and joy while contributing to a more compassionate and flourishing world.
